It's a wonderful machine, but the iMac is better for what you want to do if you just stay put. When you buy a rMBP you are paying an extreme premium for getting as powerful components as they possible can put in such a thin piece of silicone for all those people who need to carry it around all day. The larger screen, the more power pr dollar. Like if you need to work from one place all the time, get the iMac. I have a Retina Macbook Pro, but I will say that unless you need the portability. Anyone used them?Īny truth in the numbers i'm not noticing, lemme know. Hackintosh - Never looked into them, but could be a winner.
#Buy a macbook video editing pro#
Mac Pro - Quad Core 3.7GHz, 12 gig Ram $4000 (can get for $3000) Anyone used one? Would they be that much more powerful than the iMac or Macbook Pro? I get that feeling that I should just buy the top one if i'm buying a Mac Pro, but this could actually work, but if it's not going to wildly outperform the iMac, then maybe not. Basically from what I can tell, the same as the iMac video wise, but slower. Macbook Pro - 15-inch: 2.5GHz Retina $3000 AU. It's got 2 gig video memory, which is a gig higher than the model below it, so i'd rather spend the extra money. Yeah, we get the shaft on price in Australia. My budget is really making at about $2500, but i'm happy to invest if it's worth it. I'm also going to start learning Cinema 4D & run Logic Pro X. I mainly do FCP / Premiere work & lots of After Effects. And i'm going a bit nuts so I thought i'd turn to GAF as there's a lot of editors here.
